OCs from my original setting Echoworld, a sort of Rise of the Guardians/American Gods dealio where mankind's belief in certain concepts creates beings called "Echos".  They live in a dimension parallel to humankind and can only interact with them indirectly (outside of VERY specific circumstances).

Father Time/Chrono • cis man (he/him)
A manifestation of humankind's perception of time and its steasfast, unchanging nature. cold and impersonal; seems to hold the other Echos at a strict arms length and is rarely- if ever- warm towards them.
The one exception behind his beloved Gaia.  He fell in love with her at first sight and has only fallen deeper since that day.  He seems to hold a grudge against Humankind as a whole, though he tolerates their existance.

His personal realm is a white void which he can manipulate at will to take him back to any point in the past, anywhere, to observe and experience (though he cannot go back and change things that have already occured).

Mother Earth/Gaia • nb woman (she/they)
A manifestation of the Earth and how humankind has anthropomorphized it. She's cheery and loudmouthed, you never have to guess what she thinks of anyone/anything because she always makes it known. despite her surface-level stubbornness and vulgarity, she’s a very kind and down-to-earth person with a lot of love in her heart, even towards those she doesn’t like.  In the past few centuries however, she’s started developing chronic pain and sustaining injuries reflective of the damage Earth has sustained.

Her personal realm is a massive, ever shifting biome.  Some days it's a massive tropical rainforest, other days it's a grey and mountainous tundra, but regardless it is always pristine and untouched by any except for her.


The North Star • trans woman (she/her)
A manifestation of guidance, the glimmer of hope that you’ll find your way back when you’re far away from home.  She's a wanderer who's beloved by her peers in spite of her frequent absense.  However she always comes back with stories to tell.  She is referred to lovingly as "Captain" by the others.  She's mysterious and seems to be troubled with a deep melancholy she can't shake, but she hides it through charm and humor.

Her personal realm is the vast sea of stars in the Milky Way, which she sails through in a flying ship.


Eros • bigender (she/he)
A manifestation of "love", or at least ancient ideas about love being akin to a madness (though you would never be able to guess nowadays as she's grown and "calmed down" over the centuries).  He has had many mortal lovers whom have all either tragically passed or broken things off with Eros in a messy way.  Nowadays, she tends to matters of love from a distance and finds that the Internet has been a *fantastic* way to observe and influence people from afar.  He's a charmer and a gossip, but she keeps everyone at an arms length for fear of hurting them.  She doesn't trust herself to "love" others in a normal, nonobsessive way, trying to keep his own feelings strictly platonic and only interfering in matters involves the romantic feelings of others seperate from herself.

Her personal realm looks like a massive ancient Greek garden that you could probavly wander for years and still not see it in its entirety.


The Trickster/Lokke • nb trans man (he/they)
A manifestation of good-natured mischief and the trickster archetype.  As his title implies, they're a chaotic good entity who sees no purpose in life if one can't make it fun.

Despite his surface level immature and fun-loving nature, Lokke has a great deal of love for children and goes to great lengths to protect them.  He went so far as to convert his own personal realm into a haven in Echoworld specifically for the souls of children who died suddenly/horribly and who can’t yet move on to whatever afterlife awaits them.


‍The Devil/Lucifer • trans man (he/him)‍
A manifestation of humankind's fears/perceptions of Hell, temptation, and "sin".  He is a sardonic, incredibly charming man who, despite his origins, is moreso curious and amused by mankind than anything else.  He's a shapeshifter who likes to make deals and bets with people.  While he has been signed away many souls in his time, he never keeps them around for long after they die and join him.  He already had his fun watching them live their lives so he sends them on their merry way into what true afterlife awaits them.

His personal realm is a luxurious black castle resting precariously atop a moat of fire.  He knows it's extra and he refuses to change a single thing about it.


The Witch/Theodora • trans woman (she/her)
A manifestation of humankind's fears/fascination surrounding magic, specifically "witchcraft".  She tends to keep to herself and has a distant, cold demeanor as a default.  She cares very little for humankind, but the love she has for her fellow Echos- while often unspoken- could fill oceans.  She also has a morbid sense of humor and despite her misanthropy, she loves animals.

Her personal realm takes the form of a deep dark woods full of strange flora and fauna.  She resides in a small cabin that rests in the heart of the forest, shrouded in dark where only fractured beams of sun/moonlight can reach it.


Saint Nicholas • nb man (he/they)
A manifestation of hope and "the giving spirit" and an incredibly kindhearted and selfless individual.  He's the type of person to remember a little detail you dropped months ago- like what your favorite color is- and incorporate it into a gift (that he made entirely by hand of course).
He is also incredibly innovative and resourceful in his craftmanship.  Many years ago, he lost his lower right leg to frostbite.  Not very long after, he crafted himself a wooden prosthetic that he's continued to use and improve upon.
Despite his talents, he remains a deeply humble individual who worries he still isn't doing "enough" to make the world a better place.

His personal realm is a vast snowy land with wide open plains that reach out into the horizon.  There is also a dense forest which provides what seems to be infinite wood to warm his cabin and keep his workplace hearth lit while he works long hours.


🪱The Wretch • genderless (he/they/it)🪱
A manifestation of human suffering, especially unaddressed/unavenged pain.  It is very reclusive and anxious, assuming the others Echos find him disgusting and difficult to be around.

Their personal realm is a series of winding underground caverns that they call Home.  He's taken steps over the years to make the rooms more comfortable, to care to keep the way lit for those who do visit (Nick especially checks in on them a lot) even if at times Wretch does wish to bury themself in the Earth completely and never be seen again.


The Bogeyman • a man?? (he/it)
A manifestation of humankind's fears of strangers, the uncanny, and being stalked.  He's a very odd fellow who is either unaware of- or merely apathetic to- everything considered proper and polite.  It speaks in odd ways and makes many faux pas which makes him a difficult being to befriend.  Despite all of this, Bogey is ultimately a very lonely creature who purposefully seeks out direct human interaction more than any of the other Echos.  Sure it's for the sake of feeding off of their fear, but at least he's getting noticed.

His personal realm appears to be a simple suburban neighborhood in permanent nighttime with a starless sky.  But the longer you're there, the more it feels like you're in a bad dream: lost in a place that seems like it should exist somewhere but *doesn't*.  It feels wrong.


🫀Rotten Girl • a bug in a girl suit (she/it)🫀
A manifestation of everything putrid and decaying and the newest of all the Echos.  It is an excitable, eccentric young lady who is fascinated by all things macabre.  She's giddy and impulsive and ultimately seems excited about her newfound existence... There's just the matter of figuring out what she's to do with it.

Her personal realm takes the form of an abandoned amusement park.  The coasters and cars have long since rusted over.  Nature and many *many* bugs begin to reclaim and overtake the land.


The Sleeper • male-ish?? (he/him?)
A manifestation of.... well, he won't say.

His personal realm is white and featureless, save for a door that leads to his bedroom.  It's a grand room with a very large bed that's covered in pillows you can sink so deep into you'll fear getting lost in them.

The room itself is decorated with a great number of ornate clocks, each unique in form but all in perfection condition, ticking in unison.
